NASTEC Presents Coconut Research Institute Performance Review Report to the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure

The National Science and Technology Commission (NASTEC) presented the Coconut Research Institute (CRI) Institutional Performance Review Report to the Secretary of the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure at a meeting on 9^th October 2026.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of NASTEC, Prof. Rohan Fernando, and members of the independent Review Panel, Dr. Nimal Kumarasinghe (Panel Chairman), Prof. O. D. Niranjalie Antonette Perera and Ms. D. A. Shirani, appointed to assess the institutional performance of CRI.

During the meeting, the Review Panel formally handed over the Review Report to the Ministry, followed by a presentation highlighting the key findings, observations, and recommendations of the institutional review. The discussion provided an opportunity to draw attention to areas requiring institutional improvements and strategic interventions to strengthen CRI's research performance, institutional effectiveness, and contribution to the coconut sector.

This engagement marks an important step in translating institutional review findings into practical actions and facilitating policy-level attention towards strengthening the national research and development system.
