Stakeholder Consultations for the Performance Review of CRI
The National Science and Technology Commission (NASTEC) conducted stakeholder consultation meetings on 04 June 2026 and 10 June 2026 at Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla, as part of the Performance Review of the Coconut Research Institute (CRI).
The consultation held on 04 June 2026 was conducted with the participation of the Coconut Development Authority , Coconut Cultivation Board , and the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure.
The consultation held on 10 June 2026 brought together representatives from key coconut sector associations, namely the Coconut Growers Association, DC Miller Association, Coconut Substrates Association, Coconut Milk Association, VCO Association, Coconut Products Manufacturers’ & Exporters’ Association, Coir Fiber Exporters Association, Fiber Millers Association, and the Consortium of Coconut Based Products and Exports of Ceylon.
The meetings enabled the Review Panel to obtain stakeholder perspectives on CRI’s role, services, sector contribution, research support, and areas requiring further attention. These consultations also provided a platform to understand industry expectations and practical challenges faced by different segments of the coconut sector.
The inputs received will contribute to the development of evidence-based recommendations to further strengthen CRI’s institutional performance and its contribution to the sustainable advancement of Sri Lanka’s coconut industry.
